Reviews:

What led Seether to unplug?

Morgan: We were on the SnoCore tour, and a bunch of us got sick-there was like a stomach flu going around. You don't have any energy, but you can still play and sing. So instead of canceling shows, we just did acoustic shows. The response was good and the label got excited about it, and the whole thing snowballed into "Let's do an acoustic album!" And instead of coming off the road and recording one, it became "Let's do a live one on your night off in Philadelphia." They brought in a 64-track mixing desk, hired an engineer, two or three cameras became 16... [Laughs] It just got out of hand.

Is it hard to play these songs acoustically?

Morgan: We just have to play them a little more conscientiously on acoustic guitar, 'cause people can hear the mistakes easier. [Laughs] We do so much acoustic stuff anyway, whether we're going to radio stations or writing songs or jamming around. We spend a lot of time on acoustic, so for us it's not a big stretch to go from electric shows to acoustic ones. We did arrange some things, some different intros and things just so there would be something different and special. But mostly we played the songs as is.

Pearl Jam's "Immortality" is an interesting choice for a cover.

Morgan: Pat [Callahan] is a big Pearl Jam fan. I grew up being more of a Nirvana fan. Every once in awhile we'll compensate-do a Nirvana or a Pearl Jam cover to appease both of us. We started doing ["Immortality"]; it's a simple song to play and one of Pearl Jam's most beautiful songs, I would say. We didn't want the album to be just songs you've heard on the radio and some other songs; we wanted it to be songs people have requested and, on top of that, songs that are rare.

When will we be hearing brand new Seether music?

Morgan: Not much has been done yet. There are some ideas floating around; I would say we have three or four, maybe five solid ideas for songs. We'd like to have an album out first quarter of next year, if that's possible. Once again it's not something we want to rush, but we don't want to take as much time as it took between Disclaimer and Karma & Effect. We don't want to take three years between brand new albums.
